About MarkMark Jewell has lived in Larches, Preston for most of his life. He moved to the area, after graduating, to work in the local aerospace industry. Mark joined the Liberal Democrats in 2001 and became politically active following the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and the introduction of top up fees. Mark was elected as a local Councillor on Preston City Council in May 2006 and was also elected as a Lancashire County Councillor in June 2009. Mark represents the area in which he lives. Within months of being elected in 2006, he tried to prevent the Council using the governments ID card to access Council services. More recently he has tried to limit the Council's powers to snoop on residents and has revealed the inappropriate use of snooping powers. Mark has also led the way by persuading the Council to adopt a policy of supporting the introduction of 20mph speed limits in residential areas without necessarily resorting to lumps and bumps in the road. See Mark's Councillor website to view his work on both Preston City Council and Lancashire County Council. Since being selected as Preston's LibDem Parliamentary Candidate, Mark has been campaigning against Post Office Closures, Labour's Surveillance Society and for greater access to NHS dentists - all areas of key concern to local residents. In his limited spare time, Mark normally cooks the Sunday dinner and enjoys his time with family and friends.
